Trials Manager

Salary: £40,775 plus cost of living pay increase from April 2026

AlphaPlus currently has a vacancy for a trials manager to join the trialling team coordinating, overseeing and managing all activities relating to the administration of trials, pre-tests and data collection activities in schools and other educational settings. This vacancy is open to AlphaPlus employees only.

The trials manager will lead the trialling team to ensure that projects are implemented to time, budget and quality, supporting a range of projects over their lifecycle.

The postholder will work across a range of projects in an educational and vocational setting. This will predominantly involve supporting large-scale trialling of new materials in schools and colleges.

Responsibilities

In doing so, the postholder will need to:

• Work in a customer-facing role across multiple projects, recruiting schools to participate in trials of new assessment materials and supporting them throughout the trialling process
• Have experience in a customer service role, preferably using CRM / service desk software
• Work with project teams across the organisation to design, develop and deploy qualifications and assessments across a range of educational and vocational contexts

Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

• Good GCSEs in maths and English or equivalent
• Good GCE A levels or equivalent
• Second class honours or above (essential) in a relevant degree (desirable) or equivalent relevant professional experience
• Demonstrably high standard of computer literacy especially Microsoft Office and database systems
• Excellent proof-reading skills
• A successful track record (minimum of one year) working in a role requiring extensive internal and/or external collaboration to achieve the desired outcomes
• Experience of developing policies/procedures
• Evidence of decision making
• Experience of developing, implementing and working with quality control processes

Additional Preferred Experience

The following would be useful but are not essential:

• A customer service background and/or background in accessibility/ test development
• Experience of management and/or operations
• Experience working in a customer-facing role

The company offers hybrid working (two days per week minimum in the office, with three days working at home).
