Coram is the UK's first and longest continuing children's charity, founded as The Foundling Hospital by Thomas Coram in 1739. Today we support more than one million children, young people and families across the UK through children's rights, adoption, family services, education, training and professional services.

About the role

As Treasurer you will chair the Finance Committee to ensure robust financial management and oversight across a diverse portfolio of services. You will also serve as a standing member of the Investment Committee, the Audit Committee, and provide strategic financial guidance to support Coram's continued growth.

Your responsibilities include:

• Providing strategic financial oversight to the Board and CEO.
• Overseeing risk assessment processes and financial controls.
• Co ordinating the presentation of financial information to the Board.
• Advising the trustee body on the financial implications of strategy and policy objectives.

Qualifications and experience

• Demonstrable senior finance experience with expertise in financial management and strategy at board level.
• Previous experience as a trustee or treasurer of a charitable organisation.
• Commercial acumen and experience in a complex, multi organisation group structure.
• Strong strategic mindset, flexible and responsive to change.
• Alignment with Coram's mission and values.

Time commitment

The role involves approximately 15 meetings per year, each lasting around 2 hours, including Board, Finance Committee, Investment Committee, Audit Committee, and Annual Court meetings. Most meetings are held in person at Coram Campus; occasional hybrid attendance is available.
