Travel Unit Officer

Salary - £24,294 - £25,979 (Grade 4)

Hours - 37

Contract type - Full time, permanent

We are looking to appoint an ambitious and highly motivated individual, seeking an opportunity to work in our highly successful Travel Unit at the City of Wolverhampton Council. The Travel Unit integrates the transport delivery of Adult Social Care, Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) and Passenger Transport, which provides a vital service to transport vulnerable children and adults with SEND needs across the City of Wolverhampton. We are seeking a dynamic and proactive individual, looking to be immersed in a new challenge by working within a large team who provide a statutory, frontline service to the people of Wolverhampton.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring that the operation of internal and contracted Education (SEND) travel services in the city are operated efficiently and in accordance with policy.
  • Being responsible for ensuring all day to day operational issues which arise in the area with contractors, carers, parents, schools, colleges and cross departmental / service colleagues particularly those within the Education (SEND) areas highlighted to their appropriate line manage
  • Contributing fully to the safe and legal operation of the Unit
  • Supporting the Travel Unit Co Ordination and the Travel Unit Operational Support Lead in processes relating to Management of Attendance and Performance Management policies.
  • Analysing and performance managing vital data collected by the Travel Unit.
  • Develop and maintain good, professional relationships with contractors via various forms of communication
  • Assisting Travel Unit Supervisors in ensuring arrangements for travel requirements are in place. This includes arranging Travel Assistant cover
  • Being proficient in raising official orders, sundry debtor invoices, checking invoices against orders, clearing and coding for payment within set time limits, investigating statements, journal transfers, dealing with queries and maintaining appropriate records
  • Maintaining sensitivity and considering the complex needs of each individual case.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will need to be educated to NVQ 2 level in a transport, administrative or appropriate discipline, or have extended experience in a transport or administrative related field.

Our working arrangements

All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style.
