Transport Supervisor

Ryton £32,782 + Benefits 12-Month Fixed Term Contract

Help keep our Evri Premium transport operation moving.

At Evri Premium, we're looking for an experienced Transport Supervisor to join our team in Ryton on a 12-month fixed term contract.

Working Monday to Friday on our evening/night operation, you'll play a key role in making sure our transport operation runs safely, legally and efficiently. You'll support our drivers, manage the daily transport plan and respond quickly when things don't go as expected.

It's a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment, so you'll need to be organised, confident making decisions and comfortable managing both people and operational priorities.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 19:00 - 03:30

What you'll be doing

Working closely with the Transport Shift Manager and wider operation, you'll:

• Brief and debrief drivers, ensuring runs and operational instructions are clearly understood.
• Coordinate driver and vehicle activity to keep departures and deliveries running to plan.
• Monitor routes and investigate late arrivals, departures and service issues.
• Ensure drivers remain compliant with drivers' hours, Working Time and company requirements.
• Maintain accurate vehicle, trailer and transport information across our systems.
• Monitor vehicle defects, accidents and damage, ensuring issues are reported and actioned correctly.
• Download and interpret digital tachograph information and monitor vehicle telematics.
• Keep the Transport Management System accurate and up to date as operational plans change.
• Work closely with warehouse, planning and operational teams to resolve issues and protect service.
• Complete Health & Safety activities, including yard walks and vehicle checks.
• Monitor operational KPIs, investigate performance issues and support root cause analysis.
• Motivate and support drivers, addressing day-to-day operational and performance issues.
• Deputise for the Transport Shift Manager when required.

What we're looking for

You'll have experience working within a busy transport, logistics or traffic office environment, with a good understanding of what it takes to keep a time-critical operation moving.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Previous transport or traffic office experience.
• Experience supervising or managing drivers or operational teams.
• Good knowledge of transport compliance, drivers' hours and Working Time requirements.
• Experience using transport management, telematics or tachograph systems.
• Confidence using operational data and KPIs to understand and improve performance.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions when plans change.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with drivers and stakeholders.
• A positive, hands-on leadership style with the ability to maintain high standards in a busy environment.

A Transport Manager CPC would be advantageous, although we're also happy to consider candidates willing to work towards the qualification.
