Transport Supervisor

GXO is currently seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Transport First Line Manager to join the BT contract atour Northallerton site. You will experience a blend of first line operational tasks and hands on project involvement, and you'll take pride in building a motivated, engaged team and creating a culture where people feel supported, valued, and able to perform at their best.
The role is being offered on a full-time, permanent basis. You will work Monday-Friday, rotating weekly between 6am-2pm & 2pm-10pm although some flexibility may be required during peak times - this is logistics after all!

What you'll do on a typical day:- Ensure a safe working environment and to operate in accordance with company Health & Safety policies. This includes Road to Zero
- Ensure all GXO / DVSA compliance measures are prioritised and maintained. These include Tachomaster, Trailer Master, Tachograph analysis, infringement reporting and investigations
- Ensure adequate accident investigations are carried out in a timely manner and recorded with appropriate support from the QHSE team and to take corrective action as appropriate with support from HR team
- Day to day team management of all GXO and agency staff within the distribution operation across different shifts and sites as operationally required
- Proven experience in a leadership role within the transportation or logistics industry
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety principles
- Knowledge and understanding of vehicle compliance requirements and the importance of correct management, including the safe vehicle loading / unloading process
- Strong knowledge of transportation operations, safety regulations, and legal compliance
- Problem solving skills and the ability to manage challenge
