A number of challenges face transportation in the UK, including congestion, reducing carbon emissions, improving connectivity and ensuring transportation options are accessible to all.

As a Transport Planner, you'll play a crucial role in creating greener, cleaner, and more inclusive transport systems across the UK and beyond. Our transport planners are at the forefront of navigating complex transport issues, from combating climate change and addressing transport inequality to enhancing accessibility for diverse communities. By joining our Graduate Development Programme, you'll become part of a respected team with a stellar reputation in the engineering and planning sectors. Gain hands-on experience working on a wide range of transport systems-including active travel, public transport, and highways-while shaping policies, strategies, and projects that improve travel for everyone.

Our work covers the following areas:

• Behaviour Change & Research- Designing people-focused transport solutions and positively influencing travel behaviours to support more sustainable and inclusive mobility-now and into the future.
• Development Planning- Supporting planning applications and infrastructure delivery by securing development consent and discharging planning conditions.
• Economics & Business Case- Building robust business cases and conducting economic analysis to guide and justify transport investment decisions.
• People Movement & Accessibility - Enhancing how people navigate and experience spaces, ensuring transport systems are inclusive, efficient, and accessible to all.
• Public Transport and Active Modes - Research, policy and scheme development to get more people using rail, bus and active forms of transport.
• Strategic Advice- Working with clients to shape and define objectives, solve complex challenges, and identify the most effective policy, service, and infrastructure interventions.
• Transport Modelling & Data Analytics- Using data-driven insights and modelling tools to assess current and future transport scenarios, helping clients understand the impact of their decisions.
• Thriving & Intelligent Places- Creating vibrant, connected, and resilient places for communities that enhance quality of life.

As part of our Graduate Development Programme (GDP), you'll gain hands-on experience across a variety of transport planning sub-disciplines, helping you build a well-rounded and versatile skill set. You'll have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of high-profile clients-including Local Authorities, the Department for Transport, National Highways, Network Rail, international organisations, and private sector partners.

From day one, you'll be a trusted member of the team, contributing to meaningful projects and helping our clients make informed, impactful decisions that support their long-term goals.

Training and development Our graduate development programme is designed to give you an insight into many areas of work, and the chance to explore where your own skills and interests lie. It features a series of training events and modules, professional development, mentoring and on-the-job experience as well as practical skills development.

From day one, you'll work on real projects that offer scale and variety, collaborating with colleagues and creating meaningful impact on the world around us. You'll work towards your professional accreditation (where applicable) - whichever path you take, your future starts here.

Meeting your needs We'll reward you for your efforts, and support you in a variety of ways, including offering:

• a settling-in payment of £2,500 when you join and a further payment of £2,500 when you achieve chartered status or reach an equivalent stage in your professional development
• 33 days annual leave, including bank holidays, with the option to buy an additional 15 days or sell up to 5 days
• two paid annual volunteer days

Our graduate salaries are between £31,000 - £33,500 depending on role and location.
