We are recruiting a Transport Planner to join our Scottish Public Sector team. In this role, you will work across an engaging blend of public sector projects supporting local councils, Regional Transport Partnerships (RTPs) and local community organisations. Our diverse workload spans everything from multi modal corridor studies and appraisals to shaping local transport strategies, authoring technical guidance, and helping to unlock funding and drive sustainable connectivity. You will take ownership of technical workstreams and help deliver practical solutions tailored to communities across Scotland.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to multi modal corridor studies, transport appraisals and business cases.
- Research and support the drafting of guidance documents.
- Analyse transport and spatial datasets to build clear, defensible evidence bases that inform public policy and investment decisions.
- Interface directly with local authority officers, RTP teams, statutory stakeholders and community groups.
- Support option generation and the delivery of travel demand management schemes.
- Assist in developing practical assessment tools and streamlined methodologies for sustainable transport planning.
- Assist with transport studies supporting large scale masterplans.
- Experience: Proven post study transport planning experience, with an enthusiasm to develop your skills across the Scottish public sector.
- Scottish Context: An good understanding of the Scottish transport policy context.
- Core Technical Skills: Comfortable working with data, reviewing transport information, and writing clear, well structured report sections.
- Communication & Teamwork: A proactive attitude, strong communication skills, and an eagerness to learn from senior peers.
- Education & Ambition: A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Urban Planning, or a related discipline, with an interest in working towards Chartered status (TPP / CEng).
