Job Description

Join us as a Transaction Manager - Loan Execution within Wholesale Lending.

Transaction Management (TM) is part of Wholesale Lending and provides debt structuring and execution for Corporate and Investment Banking clients globally. TM covers all multibank loans, event-driven loans (M&A, financial sponsor LBOs, IPOs, money out), and general corporate relationship lending of £10m or more, with transactions exceeding £1bn possible. Clients are based across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, the US, and Asia.

In this role, you will structure, negotiate, and execute high-quality debt products that are profitable for Barclays and acceptable from a risk perspective. Responsibilities include producing and negotiating term sheets, facility agreements, and other finance documents, and closing transactions. The role requires up-to-date market and product knowledge, creative idea generation, and deploying market-leading structuring and deal management skills to deliver innovative debt solutions promptly.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience negotiating loan documentation
  • Strong credit risk analysis skills, with a focus on information sharing and innovative solutions
  • Broad understanding of debt products and structures
  • High-quality work with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and own the structuring and execution process

Desirable Skills/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of macroeconomic trends affecting the debt market
  • Experience originating loan transactions
  • Knowledge of back-office loan functions

This role is based in London.

Purpose of the role

Negotiate and execute lending transactions, such as acquisitions, corporate purposes, refinances, and amendments, and coordinate services to borrowers where relevant.

Accountabilities

  • Negotiate terms and coordinate lending transactions, including syndicated loans and structured finance deals
  • Ensure documented terms meet internal sign-offs and policies, covering credit risk, legal, sanctions, and compliance considerations
  • Minimize impairment and financial loss risk by negotiating protective terms
  • Maintain market standards and adherence to market principles
  • Keep accurate transaction records and report regularly to stakeholders
  • Identify inefficiencies and develop solutions to improve transaction processes
