Job Description
Training Programme Director - Internal Medicine Stage One 
Support the Head of School in the strategic development of the School of Medicine and lead on recruitment and retention strategy. Member of the School Board.
- Training support to the Head of School.
- Lead development of Recruitment and Retention Strategy.
- Contribute to the School Operational Programme.
- Member of the School Board.
- Redesign the system for IMS1 doctor training to enhance educator development and resident support.
- Create a Lead TPD to assist educator development of new TPD or ES roles.
- Develop robust governance procedures around ARCPs.
- Introduce TPD leads focusing on post training support and improve working lives of doctors, including equitable processes for less than full time working.
- Create a team structure to manage peaks and troughs of activity.
- Presence at teaching days to resolve queries promptly.
- Provide a point of contact for urgent matters.
Lead TPD for Greater Manchester Hub IMS 1.
Responsibilities- Programme management and track allocation.
- Recruitment.
- LTFT process and track allocation.
- Acceleration panels.
- OOP and further support for queries related to clinical academics.
- Responsible for year TPDs.
- Support for year TPDs.
- Collaborate with the Head of School to develop and implement a Medical Workforce Strategy supporting recruitment and retention of IMS1 training trainees.
- Develop initiatives to improve doctors' working lives and enjoyment during training.
- Substantive Consultant or Specialty Doctor in a medical specialty that hosts Internal Medicine Stage One Resident Doctors, currently working in the NHS in the North West Deanery.
- Member or Fellow of a relevant Royal College.
- Education qualification such as postgraduate certificate, diploma or master's in medical education.
- Experience of organising/delivering education programmes or courses.
- Considerable experience of working with doctors in an educational context.
- Good understanding of the IMS1 curriculum including required placements.
- Experience as an educational supervisor for IMS1 doctors.
- Experience participating in ARCPs.
- Experience supporting doctors who have struggled with medical examinations.
- Trained and experienced in recruitment, selection and Equality and Diversity in the last three years.
- Awareness of funding streams for Healthcare Education.
- Previous or current appointment as a leader in healthcare education.
- Delivery of educational projects.
- Demonstrable leadership skills and the ability to influence and motivate others.
- A strong sense of vision and ability to innovate.
- Politically astute with the ability to manage complexity and uncertainty sensitively.
- Problem solving skills and objectivity.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, written and presentation skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Committed to personal development and supported others' progress.
- Ability to rapidly establish academic credibility.
