Trainee Mental Health Community Practitioner - Development Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to employ a Trainee MentalHealth Practitioner within the Redditch Neighbourhood Mental Health Team for 37.5 hours a week. This role will focus on the delivery of population based mentalhealth care for the community of Redditch. You will be working alongside a team of highly specialist practitioners and have direct relationships with the professionals within the local Primary Care Networks (PCN).

If you are seeking a role that will encompass new ways of working that will be the future delivery of community mental health care in England, then this is an opportunity you should not miss. If you are a newly-qualified RMN, OT or Social Worker, the Trainee MHP post offers a developmental package allowing you to work towards a Band 6 position in the team with guidance and support from experienced staff members and gives you the opportunity to spend time in other clinical areas to develop your knowledge and understanding of the service. Consideration will be made for flexible working and there may be some opportunities for staff members to work from home where clinically possible.

This is a full time role.

Main duties of the job

Will work as a key member and resource of the MDT core team.

This post will offer a challenging and exciting opportunity to gain experience of working across the Mental Health Service in Wyre Forest, developing relationships with Primary Care, partner agencies and wider mental health services.

You will have the opportunity to design and deliver evidence-based recovery focused mentalhealth interventions and groups. Knowledge of delivery psychoeducation within a group environment and 1:1 would be an advantage.

You will have experience of working with this user group in community settings. You will have a registered qualification in mental health nursing, occupational therapy or social work.

The ability to work flexibly as the need of the service demands is essential.

Attend weekly MDT meetings, participate in professionals meetings, signpost to adjunct services depending on patient need.

Support and guidance to the carers of patients accessing the services.

Be supported in taking part in the duty system and act appropriately when dealing with patients who are experiencing difficulties in the absence of their allocated worker.

Receive clinical and managerial supervision regularly.

A developmental plan will be available for this post. If you meet these requirements, you will be offered a Band 6 post within the team.

Person Specification Additional Criteria
  • Will be required to complete breakaway/de-escalation training
  • Will shadow and participate in regular locality duty system if required
  • Able to meet the travel requirements of the post
Qualifications
  • Relevant professional qualification relating to Health or Social Care e.g., in nursing (RMN), social work (BSc/Dip SW), Occupational Therapy (BSc OT)
  • Current professional registration
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of mental health illnesses, understanding the signs and symptoms
  • Knowledge of principles of risk assessment and management
  • Knowledge of Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act 2006 and other relevant legislation
Experience
  • Assessment and management of clinical risk
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Assessment of people presenting with mental health problems.
  • Working in a primary care setting or secondary care setting
  • Experience of delivering evidence based psychosocial interventionsManaging own caseload
  • Some community experience (however this can include time as a student or pre-qualification)
