An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and commercially minded Trading Analyst to join a fast-growing organisation within the energy sector. This Front Office role blends data analysis with financial decision-making, offering the chance to directly influence trading strategy and portfolio performance.

You will operate similarly to a data analyst but with a strong financial and market focus-translating data into actionable trading insights, supporting algorithmic strategies, and helping to optimise revenue in a dynamic and evolving market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work alongside an automated trading platform to provide real-time insights and actively support portfolio management
  • Analyse market data to identify trading opportunities and enhance short-term power trading strategies
  • Produce regular reports on trading performance, market trends, and revenue optimisation opportunities
  • Translate complex data into clear, commercially focused insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to improve and refine trading models and algorithms
  • Monitor portfolio performance and proactively intervene to maximise value
  • Support effective collateral management across the trading function
  • Investigate market dynamics and communicate key insights across the trading team
  • Contribute to accurate execution of daily trading activities
About You

Essential:

  • Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Analytics)
  • Strong numerical and analytical capability
  • Minimum 3 years' experience within the GB energy market
  • Experience in short-term power trading within Great Britain
  • Strong interest in financial markets, energy trading, and revenue optimisation
  • Experience producing reports and presenting data-driven insights
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and commercial teams
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

Desirable:

  • Experience in a product, data, or engineering-led environment
  • Exposure to Virtual Power Plants (VPPs)
  • Experience working with trading systems, Python, SQL, or similar analytical tools
Working Arrangements
  • Hybrid model: minimum 3 days per week in the Belfast office (Tuesday is a core in-office day)
Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to play a key role in a high-growth, data-driven energy trading environment. You'll combine analytical thinking with commercial impact, working closely with both trading and engineering teams to shape strategy and drive performance.
