Trading Analyst
Permanent
Selby/London/hybrid (3 days per week in the office)

Who we are:

We're not just talking about making a difference, we're making it happen. We generate dispatchable, renewable power and create stable energy in an uncertain world. Building on our proud heritage, we have the ambition to become the global leader in sustainable biomass and carbon removals.

You'll be joining our teams of practical doers, future thinkers, and business champions. We're enabling a zero-carbon, lower-cost energy future for all and working hard to decarbonise the planet for generations to come.

About the role:

As part of the Trading and Optimisation team, the Trading Analyst will:

  1. Provide robust fundamental analysis, engage in trading strategies, develop and maintain models, review past analysis, own pricing tools, and trading-decision models such as European Pricing models, option pricing, and simulation models.
  2. Provide market and competitor intelligence and identify areas to add value.
  3. Support and guide traders to make quick, informed, and value-driven decisions.

Who we're looking for:

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:

  • Degree-level education in a subject like science, maths, economics, or engineering.
  • Working knowledge of UK power markets and understanding of power generation units.
  • Solid experience with statistical and fundamental modelling using IT tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, and Business Intelligence tools (Power BI); with a pragmatic approach to large data structures.
  • A good understanding of linear and mixed-integer programming methods, with experience building and solving models using commercial optimizers.

Rewards and benefits:

As you help us shape the future, we've tailored our rewards and benefits to support your success and lifestyle. If successful, you'll receive:

  • A discretionary bonus based on company performance.
  • Private healthcare with Vitality.
  • SAYE (Sharesave): a discretionary scheme available periodically.
  • Personal accident cover.
  • Group personal pension plan, with up to 10% contribution from us.
  • 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Reimbursement for one relevant professional body membership annually.

We are committed to making a tangible impact on the climate challenge we all face. Drax is where your individual purpose aligns with your career ambitions. We work as part of a passionate team dedicated to a sustainable future. With Drax, you can shape your career and a legacy for future generations.

Together, we make it happen.

At Drax, we foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
