Town Planner Location: Exeter
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Town Planner to join a respected and growing planning/development-focused team in Exeter. This is an excellent role for a planning professional looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and commercially focused environment.

This opportunity would suit a Town Planner with experience in planning applications, site appraisals, development advice and stakeholder engagement, who is keen to work across a varied range of projects.

The Role

As Town Planner, you will support the preparation, coordination and submission of planning applications, working closely with clients, consultants, local authorities and wider project teams.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and submitting planning applications
• Undertaking planning research, site appraisals and policy reviews
• Preparing planning statements and supporting documentation
• Liaising with local planning authorities, clients and external consultants
• Monitoring planning policy changes and identifying development opportunities
• Supporting appeals, representations and wider planning strategy work where required
• Managing your own workload while contributing to wider project delivery

About You

The successful candidate will be a motivated planning professional with strong communication skills and a good understanding of the UK planning system.

You will ideally have:

• A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline
• Previous experience in a planning role, either within consultancy, local authority or a development-related environment
• Good knowledge of the planning application process
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to manage deadlines and work across multiple projects
• MRTPI status, or be working towards Chartership
• A proactive, organised and commercially aware approach
