Job Description

Your new company
An established organisation operating within Northern Ireland's energy sector is recruiting an Energy Advisor to join its residential sales team on a 12-month contract. The organisation provides energy infrastructure to homes and businesses across Northern Ireland and is focused on delivering a high-quality customer experience while supporting the transition towards more renewable energy.

Your new role
Reporting to the Customer Engagement Manager, you will take responsibility for managing residential customer opportunities from initial enquiry through to completed connection. You will work across an allocated territory covering areas within Causeway Coast and Glens and Mid and East Antrim, including Ballymoney, Bushmills, Coleraine, Portballintrae, Portstewart, Ahoghill, Ballymena, Broughshane and Cullybackey. Regular travel throughout the territory will therefore be required. This is predominantly a warm-lead sales role, with customer opportunities provided for you to follow up and convert. You will also be encouraged to develop your own network with installers, landlords, contractors and other local contacts to generate additional opportunities.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Following up and managing prospective customers from initial enquiry through to connection
  • Arranging and conducting customer property visits
  • Explaining the benefits of natural gas and advising customers on connection requirements
  • Working towards agreed sales, connection and conversion targets
  • Building strong relationships with customers, installers, contractors and other stakeholders
  • Generating additional leads through local networking, events and relationship building
  • Preparing quotations and connection documentation
  • Managing customer enquiries by telephone and email
  • Maintaining accurate customer and opportunity information using CRM systems
  • Representing the organisation at local meetings, trade shows and events

What you'll need to succeed
You will ideally have:

  • At least 2 years' experience in a customer-facing or sales role, with strong relationship management skills
  • Experience working within a target-driven environment and managing multiple priorities
  • Experience handling customer enquiries and converting opportunities via telephone, email and digital channels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using CRM or customer management systems
  • The ability to understand technical information and communicate it clearly to customers
  • Strong organisational, time-management and problem-solving skills
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own territory
  • A full driving licence, valid MOT and business insurance

Previous experience within utilities, energy, construction, telecoms or infrastructure would be advantageous, along with knowledge of the Northern Ireland energy market or experience managing customer projects from enquiry through to completion.

What you'll get in return
You will receive a competitive package including:

  • £30,000 basic salary
  • £6,000 annual cash allowance
  • £50 commission per completed connection, payable quarterly in arrears
  • OTE of approximately £61,000
  • Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
  • 12-month contract

Typical working hours are 8.30am-5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am-3.45pm Friday. There is flexibility around these hours to accommodate customer appointments, with occasional evening appointments up to 7pm. There may also be occasional weekend work for events, with time off in lieu provided.
You will need to use your own vehicle and hold appropriate business insurance. Mileage incurred above normal home-to-work travel can be claimed.
