Bowling Control Clerk

Temporary Contract - Dundonald Ice Bowl

KEY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

As a member of the Sports Services Team, the post holder will be responsible for the effective and running of the Tenpin Bowling Centre whilst on shift including day to day supervision of the bowling centre and customer service staff also dealing with the public, cash handling and telephone /public bookings.

The post holder will assume other delegated duties appropriate to the post reasonably assigned by management.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate the bowling centre POS terminal in a busy customer focused environment.

Allocate and control lanes to customers including management of lane times and bookings in order to maximise income and to ensure the smooth running of the facility.

Programme everyday pricing, offers and holiday prices.

Cash handling including reconciliation and lodgement preparation.

Carry out lane maintenance on a weekly basis preparing and cleaning bowling approaches by burnishing to completion standard also clean surrounding areas including lane gutters and seated area and carry out any other requirements in preparation for events/leagues and competitions.

Management, promotion, coordination and running of leagues / tournaments and special events.

Responsible for the on-shift supervision of customer service staff ensuring that lanes are being monitored and customer needs met at all times covering these duties on a covering duty as and when required.

Carry out training, assisting with rotas, attending meetings and take minutes as required.

Assist in inducting new staff and any temporary work placement students.

Helping ensure that all health & safety legislation, relevant guidelines and Council Health & Safety policies are complied with in relation to the services and activities of the facility and ensuring that any defects or potentially risks are reported to their immediate supervisor.

Help ensure that all Child Protection and Vulnerable Adult legislation, published relevant guidelines and Council policies are complied with in the operation of the services and activities of the facility, to help ensure a safe environment for both customers and work colleagues.

Assisting with the general control and supervision of customers to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all and deal with all customer contacts in a positive, helpful and friendly manner.

Help ensure that relevant checks and records such as health & safety, cleaning checks, accident/incident report forms etc are completed in a consistent and accurate manner

Assist with the delivery of the centre programme and carryout any additional duties relevant to the post.

Responsible for responding to and dealing with accidents throughout the centre and administer first aid in the absence of nursing staff, if qualified to do so.

Note:The postholder should be aware that the responsibilities and functional areas of the post may be subject to change as a result of organisational change. The Council therefore reserves the right to change the duties of the post by adding to or amending the range of functional responsibilities. The post holder will be required to be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs and requirements of the organisation.

Qualifications and Experience:

It is essential that applicants have a minimum of:

  1. - A minimum of one year's experience within a similar working environment

- Previous experience dealing with the general public. - Experience of recording and maintaining information. - Experience of using electronic point of sale system in the working environment.

Desirable:Qualifications:

Experience of using electronic point of sale system in the working environment.

A First Aid at Work Qualification

Previous Experience within the Leisure Industry

Knowledge:

Experience of Reception duties including IT based systems

Awareness of Child Protection and Vulnerable Adult issues

General:

Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements specific to the Leisure Industry

Ability to work unsociable hours on a rota basis and ability to work additional hours as required

Hours of Work: 22 hours per week

Rate of Pay: £13.69 per hour plus accrued holiday pay
