Temporary Payroll Assistant - Sunderland

Our client, a prominent organization in the education sector, is looking for a Temporary Payroll Assistant to join their dynamic team in Sunderland. If you thrive in a fast paced environment and have a passion for payroll administration, we want to hear from you.
Contract Type: Temporary
Start Date: ASAP (Immediate availability preferred)
Assignment Length: 10 weeks (with potential for extension)
Location: Sunderland
Hours: 37 hours per week (Flexible start and finish times: 9 5 or 8:30 4:30)
Salary: £13.75 to £15.33 per hour (depending on experience)
What You'll DoAs an integral member of the People and Organisational Development team, you will be instrumental in managing payroll for 1,100 monthly employees and a small pensioner payroll of 70.
- Processing new starters and leavers
- Managing sickness, maternity, and paternity leave
- Verifying expenses, including mileage and receipts
- Addressing payslip inquiries, tax codes, and other payroll related questions
- Assisting with pension administration and input work
You will be supported by two other Payroll Assistants who will take care of more complex tasks, allowing you to concentrate on payroll administration.
What We're Looking ForTo excel in this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Level 2 qualification in Maths and English (minimum)
- A valid DBS Check (preferred if on the current Update Service)
- Essential experience with iTrent payroll systems
- Mid level Excel skills, including VLOOKUP functionality
- A minimum of two years of payroll experience, ideally in the education sector
- Knowledge of term time only arrangements in payroll
- Experience in large organisations is highly advantageous
- Familiarity with pension schemes and administration
