Job Description

Our client (HSE) is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced medical professionals for the position of Temporary Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) team, delivering high-quality psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care for children and adolescents presenting with a broad range of mental health difficulties.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and patient-centred service while working collaboratively with clinical, nursing, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultant-led psychiatric assessment and treatment for children and adolescents.
  • Deliver evidence-based care in line with HSE policies, national standards, and best clinical practice.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
  • Participate in clinical governance, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and support to non-consultant hospital doctors and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to on-call and emergency psychiatric services as required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
Essential Requirements

Applicants must possess:

  • Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Irish Medical Council in the specialty of Psychiatry.
  • Eligibility to work in Ireland.
  • Demonstrated experience in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-focused care.
  • Access to transport.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within CAMHS services.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary and community-based mental health settings.Training and experience in clinical supervision and teaching.
