Hays are delighted to be supporting a local authority partner in the recruitment of a temporary Waste & Recycling Advisor. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy operational team responsible for supporting the delivery of waste, recycling and environmental services across the local community.

Your New Role

As a Waste & Recycling Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting waste and recycling initiatives, engaging with residents and stakeholders, and helping to improve participation in recycling services.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the implementation of waste, recycling and operational service initiatives.
  • Engaging with members of the public, businesses, schools and community groups to promote recycling and environmental best practice.
  • Investigating service enquiries and complaints and updating CRM systems accordingly.
  • Monitoring service performance and assisting with the preparation of reports and data analysis.
  • Conducting recycling contamination checks and waste audits.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve recycling participation and resolving practical issues faced by residents.
  • Monitoring collection routes and assisting with service improvements.
  • Working closely with internal departments, housing associations and community partners to support service delivery.
  • Attending local events, forums and awareness campaigns as required.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience working with members of the public in a customer-facing environment.
  • The ability to handle enquiries, complaints and sensitive conversations professionally.
  • Good administrative and IT skills, including experience updating databases or CRM systems.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and community engagement.
  • A full driving licence would be advantageous.
