Job Description

TECHNICAL SERVICE ENGINEER

The ideal candidate will be a motivated, hard-working, well-spoken individual willing to fit into my clients growing service team at Clacton-on-Sea, to help meet the requirements of their customer base, understanding their needs and ensuring a smooth process where the customer is treated with courtesy and with a professional approach.

As a Field Service Engineer , you will be tasked with providing on-site, hands on, technical support to our customers all over the UK & Ireland, in various types of industries. Due to the fact that the machines are bespoke built, often one-off's, the range/scope of work varies from site to site. The majority of the work they carry out on site is mechanically based, breaking down & rebuilding various assemblies, replacing bearings, belts, etc, along with cutting/grinding and large-scale assembly during installations/commissioning visits.

The other main aspect of the role is electrically based, where basic wiring, PLC programming, fault-finding skills will be essential in order to minimise downtime, in fast-paced, demanding environments. While they try their best to accommodate their service-based employees, an essential aspect of the role is the need to be away from home for extended periods of time. All travel & accommodation will be booked for and site visits planned between Monday-Friday, where possible. Weekend work & overtime will be offered/expected, to suit the needs of the business.

Main Responsibilities of the role: :

• Machine installations/ commissioning. • Machine Service. • Breakdowns/ on-site support. Sub-categories of these will include:o Operator training, both internally and externally where required. o Complete service reports accurately, taking care to record accurately time on-site, spare parts used, etc. o Remotely access machinery to determine reported faults o Travel to customers sites all over the UK (this will include air & sea travel, as required)

Essential criteria:

At least 2-3 years' experience as Field Service Engineer or as Technical Service Engineer, with a good knowledge of labelling systems or alternative types of packaging machinery.

Solid Electrical background with basic PLC programming skills, wiring experience & fault-finding abilities.

Solid Mechanical background, with a good working knowledge of mechanical processes, including cutting & grinding.

Ability to use hand & power tools safely and effectively.

Ability to technically assess situations and issues, and proactively advise on solutions Ability to follow procedures and plan time effectively Ability to manage multiple tasks while under strict time constraints.

Excellent people skills with a good attitude to team working & ability to work alone in the field.

Driving license.

Desirable criteria: Engineering based qualification, HNC/HND, etc. Welding experience

Package available: £30-£50k (depending on level of experience) 24 days holidays per annum + bank holidays Early finish Friday: 8am-5pm (Mon- Thurs.) & 8am-2pm (Friday) Company vehicle (van) Company pension Overtime (Time + after office hours/Saturday & Time +1 on Sunday)
