Job Title: Technical Product Owner
Location: Bristol/Hybrid (On-site 2 days per week)
Contract Length: 9 months (Starting November)
Day Rate: £425 - £500

RoleThe Product Owner is the overall owner for a single product backlog which contains 2-3 features, journeys or technology components. They will also act as the Team Lead. This role is responsible for overseeing the release of incremental value within an overall product, with the primary aim of delivering value to customers and stakeholders by ensuring the team focuses on the right priorities. You will need a strong technical awareness in complex domains, ideally in the payments and financial services domain.
This role will be working within the Commercial Cards division of a tier 1 bank and is critical in developing the digital channels, integrations, payment schemes, along with managing key 3rd party relationships.
Responsibilities- Supports development of OKRs and provides product performance and benefits realisation data
- Defines user-stories at Team level to meet customer needs
- Works with Customer Journey Manager to analyse user stories for customer journey improvements
- Shapes Product vision and roadmap at Lab or Team level
- Prioritises, refines and manages Lab or Team Product backlog
- Accountable for Product change governance (e.g., CMIA / SPFIA) and Business Readiness activities (e.g., training and comms, testing and readiness for implementation) for their respective features, journeys or technology components
- Plays a role in developing capabilities within their functional area and invests in personal and team growth through mentoring and other informal methods
- Works with Integrators when change is particularly large
- Owns and manages the product backlog for a Group-wide technology asset
- Supports to develop technical design for the product
- Delivers against a product budget, performing financial and data analysis
- Manages product risk
- Manages complex and technical high-risk implementations requiring integration between multiple parties (internal/external)
- Environment planning (where required)
Product Delivery - Leads product delivery and continuous improvement using Agile methodology, techniques, tools, etc. Shapes the direction for cross-functional teams to deliver products in an Agile environment using the bank's change framework.
Customer Centricity - Promotes the value of customer outcomes with the team and peers and ensures work efforts achieve these. Anticipates customer needs and uses customer input to present targeted, integrated, and outcome-focused solutions and opportunities.
Product Ownership - Takes ownership of a backlog supported by multiple teams. Delivers simple and complex tech changes to a product and is responsible for its success/failure. Leads work across the relevant teams and ensures the right tools and processes are implemented. Uses experience to prioritise work and manage backlog efficiently and demonstrates a good level of domain knowledge.
