Technical Manager / Specification Writer - Architecture

Multidisciplinary Practice Dublin €85k

We are retained by a well established, multidisciplinary architecture practice with a strong Dublin presence and a growing footprint across Ireland and the UK, to appoint a Technical Manager / Specification Writer.

This is a pivotal, practice wide role for a technically expert construction professional to lead specification writing, technical compliance and quality standards across a live residential-led project portfolio, while shaping the systems, templates and training that underpin how the practice delivers. You'll work closely with project directors, architects and technical teams, acting as a trusted point of technical authority from pre-planning through to construction.

The Role Technical Management
  • Provide technical support to project directors and architects at key project stages, from pre-planning technical reviews through to construction.
  • Review and prepare project architectural specifications (NBS Chorus classification 2015), drawings and tender/construction packages for building regulation compliance.
  • Review technical submittals and shop drawings, and help set up strategies for contractor submittal and sign-off procedures.
  • Support key client presentations and tender bids, representing the practice's technical strengths.
  • Assist in developing standard prototypical apartment designs and advise on construction materials, systems and value engineering.
  • Carry out ancillary certifier roles for projects.
Process, Standards & Interface Groups
  • Set up, manage and attend project interface groups spanning appraisal/design, planning (FSC/DAC), tender, contract/commencement (BCAR), construction/inspections and BIM.
  • Develop standard procedures, templates and quality benchmarks for design deliverables, NBS specifications, CAD/Revit templates and reporting.
  • Review and develop QA/QC procedures across the practice.
  • Support project resourcing strategy alongside the practice's directors.
  • Mentor and guide staff on construction-related technical issues.
  • Run internal technical clinics and workshops on NBS specifications, Revit keynotes/annotations, and site inspection practice, in line with industry BIM/ISO standards.
  • Support site visits and inspections, shadowing and mentoring others on site issues to watch for.
About You
  • Any construction-related qualification or equivalent industry experience.
  • 15 years' experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish building regulations and compliance.
  • Experience on Irish/UK on-site building projects - residential, hotel or student accommodation experience preferred.
  • Experience with technical submittals, including reviewing and resolving associated issues.
  • Residential sector experience preferred (apartments, houses, duplexes).
What's On Offer
  • €85k salary, reflective of experience.
  • A pivotal, practice-wide role shaping technical standards across a live residential portfolio.
  • A comprehensive benefits package - further details available on request.
