Technical Due Diligence Consultant

ERG is expanding its Technical Due Diligence service within the Climate, Sustainability and Transactions team and seeks a Technical Due Diligence Consultant (Junior or Senior level). The role supports buy side, sell side, and refinancing transactions for private market investors, portfolio companies, and corporate clients, providing technical, operational and business plan evaluations of infrastructure asset investments.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver proposals, including company profile, scope of work, schedule, and commercial terms.
- Assist or lead projects that evaluate technical, operational and business plans for proposed infrastructure investments.
- Coordinate typical project deliverables such as Q&A submissions, management sessions, client meetings and report delivery.
- Work collaboratively with ERM technical teams and external subject matter experts to support project delivery and client interaction.
- Complete internal development tasks to improve the functionality of the Technical Due Diligence service line.
- Support business development activities and project delivery across transaction types.
- Solid academic background in engineering (chemical, mechanical, electrical, civil or related field).
- Technical consulting and/or engineering experience in infrastructure and/or energy sectors.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to combine consulting and business development skills.
- Strong technical skills to identify risks and opportunities in technical documentation, site visits, and discussions covering asset integrity, operational performance, management systems and business plans.
- Excellent organisational, self motivation and self sufficiency; adept at working in a fast turnaround team environment.
- Advanced report writing skills and experience in a client facing role.
- Ability to manage or assist with complex project delivery, coordinating multiple workstreams into client deliverables.
- Previous technical due diligence experience, preferably supporting transaction due diligence for infrastructure private finance deals.
- Engineering chartership (or progress toward it).
- Corporate finance qualification or demonstrated interest in economics and finance.
- Willingness to travel domestically and overseas for site visits when required.
- Experience managing external client projects (level dependent on career stage).
- Proficiency in additional languages.
- Experience in industries such as bioenergy, waste & circularity, power, heat & water networks, fuels & chemicals, low carbon fleets & transport, buildings & civil infrastructure, digital infrastructure, and/or maritime.
- Experience developing and/or managing capital and operating expenditure for development projects or operating assets, supporting business case preparation and budgeting.
