Job Description

Contract: 6-Month Fixed-Term (with the potential to become permanent)

Job Type: Full-time - Rolling Shift Pattern (10.5 hour shifts, including nights, weekends and bank holidays)

Location: Ashford

Salary: £14.95 - £17.04 per hour

HRGO are recruiting for a Technical Admin Assistant on behalf of our client in Ashford. This role plays a key part in supporting the inspection and clearance of imported goods, ensuring compliance with UK import regulations, and assisting Officers and Official Veterinarians in their day-to-day operations.

This is a predominantly office-based role, with some support required in inspection areas. Full training will be provided across all systems, procedures, AI tools and health & safety requirements.

Key responsibilities
  • Complete CHED and IUU document checks accurately and efficiently.
  • Use AI systems to support document verification and manually resolve discrepancies where required.
  • Respond to telephone and email enquiries from agents and hauliers regarding consignments.
  • Escalate issues and complaints to the appropriate team or supervisor.
  • Carry out seal checks on lorries to ensure the integrity and continuity of consignments.
  • Record inspection findings using tablets and internal systems (including Philis).
  • Complete identity checks and assist with detention documentation.
  • Assist with sampling of consignments under Officer/Veterinary guidance.
  • Coordinate lorry movements across the site to ensure efficient processing.
  • Process rejected consignments or re-entries, including photo uploads to internal systems.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records across all internal systems.
Skills and experience required
  • Level 3 qualification (or equivalent), such as A Levels, BTEC or NVQ.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Confident using digital systems and AI-assisted tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Background in food safety, import/export, logistics or a regulated environment.
  • Experience working with regulatory or enforcement bodies.
  • Knowledge of public sector operations or compliance frameworks.
