Tech Support Volunteer

Volunteer role providing audiovisual (AV) support for online and hybrid talks, seminars, and events hosted by the Hospice. Requires prior experience in using audio visual equipment and managing online events, preferably in a professional context.
Responsibilities- Support online and hybrid sessions using Microsoft Teams and Zoom, including admitting online attendees from the waiting room.
- Monitor and maintain sound and video quality, using in house cameras as required so presenters can be clearly seen and heard.
- Assist presenters and facilitators with screen sharing and recording sessions, if required.
- Offer suggestions about equipment, technology or connectivity to improve event success.
- Experience or familiarity with video conferencing platforms and basic audio visual equipment.
- Understanding of managing virtual meetings across Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
- Willingness to learn new skills and technologies.
- Volunteers must be 18 or over.
- All volunteers are expected to reflect Hospice Values: Care and Compassion, Respect, Trust and Partnership.
Approximately 6-10 events or talks per year. Each event may involve a short AV rehearsal and 2-3 hours of attendance. The role will be reviewed on a yearly basis.
LocationSt Columba's Hospice Care, 15 Boswall Road, Edinburgh.

- Half day training with the Education Team/Volunteers
- Part of the Hospice Volunteer Induction/Orientation Programme
- Hospice Team meetings (if/as necessary)
- Claim reasonable travelling expenses for transport to and from the Hospice, or the location where you volunteer (e.g., one of our retail shops).
- Hospice provides complimentary tea and coffee to all volunteers, staff, patients and families.
- If you volunteer for a full day at the Hospice, you can claim a free meal from the staff café or Iona Café.
All Hospice staff and volunteers are expected to reflect our Hospice Values of Care and Compassion, Respect, Trust and Partnership in the way they carry out their roles and in their interactions with each other, patients, family members and any other visitors.
