Tech Lead PHP

We are looking for a Backend Tech Lead to lead one of our PHP product domains and support the team in building reliable, scalable, and maintainable solutions. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: you'll write code, but also guide engineering practices, coach developers, and collaborate closely with Product and Engineering Management. You'll be responsible for ensuring both the technical quality and the evolution of the product, aligning business goals with software delivery while fostering a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture.

What will you do at Signaturit Group?

• Lead the backend team for your product domain, ensuring delivery of high-quality, scalable code and fostering best practices in software design and development.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management to shape technical solutions that align with product vision and priorities, providing input on feasibility, effort, and trade-offs.
• Act as a bridge between architecture and implementation, translating high-level designs into actionable engineering plans and guiding the team through delivery.
• Mentor and support backend developers, promoting growth, sharing knowledge, and helping resolve technical blockers.
• Drive technical decisions and lead by example, contributing actively to development (primarily in PHP) and maintaining hands-on involvement in critical code areas.
• Promote engineering excellence, including practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, observability, and technical documentation.
• Participate in hiring and onboarding, helping to grow the team and maintain our engineering culture.
• Partner with the Engineering Manager to continuously improve team processes, delivery velocity, and technical quality

What skills will make you successful?

• Strong experience in PHP & Symfony, with solid understanding of modern backend development (Hexagonal Architecture, DDD).
• Proven experience designing and building scalable distributed systems and microservices, using tools like Docker, Queue systems, and REST APIs.
• Ability to lead technical discussions, define and defend architecture proposals, and guide teams through implementation.
• Experience working in agile product teams, with direct collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers.
• Skilled in testing strategies (unit, integration), and in building robust, testable codebases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
• Strong command of relational databases (e.g. MySQL) and NoSQL tools (e.g. OpenSearch, Redis).
• Solid communication and collaboration skills; ability to convey complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in mentoring or leading engineers, either formally or informally.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with observability tools (logging, metrics, tracing).
• Contributions to open-source projects or public technical writing/talks.
• Language Skills: Advanced in English is required. French would be a significant plus.
