Tech Lead - MLOps

MLOps Technical Lead 12-Month Contract | Inside IR35 | Up to £800 per day

West London (2/3 days a week)

We are seeking an experienced MLOps Technical Lead to join a large-scale enterprise programme focused on the evolution of its data, AI and cloud platforms.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong leader who can combine hands-on engineering expertise with architectural oversight, helping shape and scale modern data and machine learning platforms while supporting the delivery of business-critical products. The role requires a blend of technical leadership, cloud engineering, DevOps, data integration and MLOps expertise.

The Role

As the senior technical authority within the product team, you will take ownership of technical design, engineering quality, platform scalability and operational excellence. You will work closely with engineers, data specialists, architects and product stakeholders to ensure solutions are secure, scalable and production-ready.

The successful candidate will be comfortable operating across the full delivery life cycle, from architecture and engineering governance through to hands-on problem solving, technical assurance and platform optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale MLOps and data platform solutions.
• Own technical architecture and engineering standards across data, AI and cloud platforms.
• Drive best practices across CI/CD, automation, testing, observability and operational readiness.
• Support the deployment, monitoring and management of machine learning workloads in production.
• Lead architectural decisions across cloud infrastructure, APIs, integrations and platform services.
• Partner with Data Engineers, ML Engineers and Platform teams to build scalable solutions.
• Drive technical assurance, root cause analysis and incident resolution.
• Ensure security, resilience, maintainability and performance remain core design principles.
• Guide engineering teams through complex technical challenges and delivery priorities.
• Manage technical debt and contribute to long-term platform strategy.

Essential Experience

• Strong experience leading technical delivery within Data, AI or MLOps environments.
• Hands-on expertise with Python and modern API development.
• Strong cloud experience, ideally AWS.
• Experience building and supporting data platforms and data integration pipelines.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices.
• Experience with containerisation and deployment automation.
• Knowledge of observability, monitoring and operational support for production platforms.
• Experience working within event-driven and distributed architectures.
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams and influence technical direction.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Rate: Up to £800 per day

• Travel: 2/3 Days a week
