Job Description

For the system engineering and infrastructure team of a major technology and IT solutions provider in Den Bosch, we are seeking an experienced Team Manager who will take operational oversight of the day-to-day management of team members, and provide strategic direction of the department within the context of the wider business.


The Team Manager will be responsible for leading a team of Cloud, Network and Infrastructure specialists that are responsible for supporting, managing and implementing complex infrastructure and private cloud environments, playing a key-role in the coaching, mentoring, and continued hiring of new team members for the department.


It is highly important that the Team Manager gets energy from the development of team members, helping them with planning and prioritising BAU infrastructure support responsibilities, ticket-handling prioritisation, escalation management and the delivery of major system changes and incident management responsibilities within their Private Cloud.


You are a coach and empathetic manager, with a servant leader mentality, that understands the strengths and needs of individuals, helping people to grow, and letting them operate autonomously. In addition, you will help with the professional development of individuals, and help foster strong collaboration with other teams and departments within the organisation and at external vendors.


The Team Manager will be able to switch between operational, tactical and strategic responsibilities, whilst using their skills to promote autonomy within the team, and encourage team members to take responsibility and a pro-active mindset to prioritise and deliver tasks based on their expertise.


The organisation offers a fast-paced environment, and the Team Manager will take oversight of the team, helping team members to prioritise tasks accordingly when contributing to the scalability, security and availability of their complex enterprise infrastructure.


During busy periods, you will help the team to understand time pressures, and set clear priorities, so that employees are able to make choices in the interest of the organisation, department and the team.


You have a calm personality, are able to take a helicopter overview, and give the team a stable basis from which they can grow, encouraging team members to take responsibility and be proactive based on their expertise.


It is also highly important that the Team Manager will be able to build relationships with internal departments, team managers, and suppliers to improve policy, procedures and team performance.


To summarise, the Team Manager will have the following skills, experience and expertise:


  • Strong experience managing technical teams with a focus on coaching, mentoring, improving and growing teams
  • Excellent people management skills, with a calm, empathetic nature and servant-leader mentality
  • Proven track-record encouraging team members to adopt a pro-active mindset to prioritise and deliver tasks based on their expertise
  • Knowledge of escalation management, incident management, change requests, and ticketing systems with in enterprise IT environments
  • Knowledge of service management best practice (preferably ITIL although not essential)
  • An understanding of complex infrastructure and private cloud environments
  • Ability to work at an operational, tactical and strategic level with the ability to build strong relationships across departments and external vendors
  • An ability to act as a sparring partner with senior management if required
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent command of Dutch (both spoken and written)
