Team Lawyer - Adult Social Care

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in Greater Manchester, who are recruiting for a locum Team Lawyer to support their People function until March 2026.

The team oversees Childcare, Adult Social Care, Education, Health and Housing, but this role will carry an Adult Social Care caseload.

The position is due to start immediately, and the rate is negotiable subject to experience.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Overseeing a team, covering areas of law to include Children's Social Care, Adult Social Care, Health and Housing
• Carrying own caseload of complex matters, ideally within Adult Social Care which would include Court of Protection, welfare applications, ordinary residence disputes and s21A challenges, and handling own advocacy
• Advising on, preparing and conducting proceedings, acting as an advocate for the Council and Court, tribunals, inquiries and other statutory or legislative hearings
• Responsible for supervision and mentoring of junior staff across the division

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive
• Local Government Experience
