Job Description

JOB TITLE: Teaching Assistant Level 2 (SEND)

SCHOOL: Smithills School

WORKING PATTERN: 28 hrs 45 mins per week, Term Time plus 5 Days

CONTRACT: 1 Year Fixed Term

SALARY: Grade D Points 6 to 11 £25,989 to £28,142 PA Pro Rata

CLOSING DATE: 9:00am Friday 2nd October 2026

INTERVIEW DATE: Wednesday 7th October 2026

THE ROLE:

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and well qualified candidate to join our team of Teaching Assistants in a successful and forward thinking department. You will work with and supervise individuals and groups of children under the direction/instruction of teaching &/or senior staff, inclusive of specific individual learning needs, enabling access to learning for all pupils and assistance and support in classroom management and behaviour techniques.

ABOUT YOU:

You will have the ability to support the teacher in planning, delivering and evaluating learning activities to ensure effective teaching and learning and the ability to give feedback in a constructive manner. You will be able to contribute to positive relationships with pupils and adults through communication and interaction and provide effective support for colleagues through differentiation and a proactive approach in and out of a classroom setting.
