Teacher of History

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset Contract: Full-time, Fixed Term (Parental Leave Cover) Salary: Qualified Teachers' Pay Scale Start Date: May 2026 (until December 2026)

Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in the Bridgwater area to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of History for a fixed-term position covering parental leave.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and high-quality History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students to develop curiosity, critical thinking skills, and a strong understanding of the past.

This role would suit both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are passionate about History and committed to student progress.

• Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured History lessons
• Inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential
• Assess, track, and support pupil progress effectively
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning
• Contribute positively to the wider Humanities department
• Support the academic and personal development of students

• Holds a relevant degree in History
• Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for History
• Is committed to high standards of teaching and learning
• Works well collaboratively as part of a team
• Is open to professional development and reflective practice
