You'll play a pivotal role in developing students' confidence in reading, writing, and critical thinking-helping them find their voice and succeed both academically and personally.

The Role

As Teacher of English, you will deliver high-quality lessons across KS3 and KS4 (with opportunities at KS5), contributing to a vibrant and aspirational learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons
  • Inspire a passion for reading, writing, and analytical thinking
  • Differentiate teaching to meet a wide range of learning needs
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom that promotes participation and progress
  • Assess, monitor, and support student attainment through accurate feedback
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives within the MAT

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds QTS or UK-equivalent teaching qualification
  • Degree in English or a related subject
  • Proven experience teaching English in UK secondary schools
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Passionate about education and committed to student success

Contract Details

  • Location: Weymouth, South Dorset
  • Position: Teacher of English
  • Type of Work: Long-term supply (Temp to Perm opportunity)
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: Academic year (with potential permanence)
  • Hours: 8:20am - 4:00pm (may vary)
  • Pay: MPS / UPS equivalent
  • Working Pattern: Full-time

Experience, Training & Compliance

To be eligible through Prospero Teaching, you must:

  • Hold QTS or equivalent
  • Have at least 3 years' experience working with children or young people in the UK
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply)
  • Provide two professional child-related references covering the last two years
  • Have up-to-date safeguarding training (or be willing to complete)
