The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Chemistry Teacher to join a thriving Science Department at our independent senior school in Ewell, Surrey. Main Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent teaching and learning opportunities in Science and Chemistry.
  • Create and sustain an excellent learning environment and culture that promotes high expectations and intellectual curiosity.
  • Ensure that own teaching practice is consistently high standard, engaging in ongoing professional development.
  • Develop and deliver innovative schemes of learning and assessment, aligned with current specifications, curriculum requirements and best practice pedagogy.
  • Plan lessons that inspire and motivate learners, taking full account of pupils' individual needs and progress.
  • Facilitate peer observation and professional dialogue to enhance teaching and learning across the department.
  • Actively seek and respond to pupil voice and feedback in order to raise standards.
  • Provide high quality individual support and targeted intervention for pupils as required.
  • Continually assess pupil progress using a range of formative and summative strategies.
  • Deliver high quality feedback that enables pupils to make sustained progress and achieve strong outcomes.
  • Provide parents with clear, constructive and timely feedback regarding their child's progress and attainment.
  • Use available data effectively to plan, monitor and review progress, driving rigorous improvement for all pupils.
  • Promote equality of performance and achievement, ensuring all pupil groups are supported to reach their full potential.
  • Maintain an up to date understanding of developments in teaching practice, methodology and educational initiatives at local, national and global levels.
  • Demonstrate a detailed and current knowledge of GCSE and A Level Chemistry specifications, including recent and ongoing changes.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds a relevant degree in Chemistry or a related subject, with a recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has strong subject knowledge and a passion for Chemistry education.
