Job Description
An established global manufacturing organization is seeking a skilled and motivated Systems Manufacturing Technician to join its Operations Engineering team in Galway. This role offers the opportunity to work in a highly automated, technology-driven production environment, supporting advanced manufacturing systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Troubleshoot and support high-speed automated assembly equipment.
- Maintain and enhance PLC programs to improve machine performance.
- Diagnose and replace faulty electrical and automation components.
- Perform robot calibration, maintenance, and programming support.
- Install, configure, and maintain barcode scanning systems.
- Ensure accurate product traceability and data capture throughout production processes.
- Provide third-level technical support for complex manufacturing issues.
- Support continuous improvement projects through software and code upgrades.
- Document technical issues and resolutions within centralized systems.
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer networks, including LAN and related infrastructure.
- Proactively support manufacturing operations to achieve performance and efficiency targets.
- 2 to 4+ years' experience in Automation, Manufacturing Systems, or a similar technical role.
- Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Experience with automated production equipment and industrial control systems.
- Knowledge of Ethernet and serial communication protocols.
- Familiarity with HMI systems, PLCs, Remote I/O networks, and robotics.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, AC/DC circuits, and electrical schematics.
- Experience supporting hardware and software systems in automated manufacturing environments.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of risk assessment methodologies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Allen Bradley PLC-5, SLC500, and ControlLogix platforms.
- Servo control systems and associated programming.
- Vision and camera inspection systems.
- PC hardware, software, and LAN topology.
- Industrial automation and control systems.
- Level 6 Certificate, Diploma, Senior Trade Qualification in Electrical, Automation, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Equivalent technical qualifications and relevant industry experience will also be considered.
