We are seeking an experienced and motivated Supervising Technical Officer to join the Hydrologic Technology Centre (HTC) within the Measurement Branch. This position plays a key role in supporting the department's water measurement and monitoring programs, which provide essential data to inform water resource management decisions across Western Australia.
As a senior member of the HTC team, the successful applicant will lead a small team and manage projects focused on the development, implementation and maintenance of water measurement instrumentation and systems. The role involves coordinating the selection and configuration of instruments, overseeing maintenance programs and service contracts, and providing specialist advice and support for field deployments across the state. The position also requires the preparation of technical documentation, guidelines and training materials, as well as the management of inventory and software associated with measurement assets.
Applicants should possess demonstrated knowledge and experience in electronics, instrumentation or hydrography relevant to water measurement applications. Strong leadership and project management capabilities are essential, along with well-developed analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills. A sound understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures is also required. Qualifications in a related discipline and experience with water measurement instrumentation and quality assurance systems will be highly regarded.
This position requires the ability to travel to regional and remote locations for short periods and a current 'C' class driver's licence. A national police clearance will be conducted prior to appointment.
