SuDS Engineer (Drainage)

Our client, a leading organisation in the HTP sector, is currently seeking an Engineer with Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) experience to join their team on a contract basis.

Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) Experience

This role focuses on supporting a key highways projects in the South of England, offering flexible arrangements and a rolling 6-month term outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead or support the design and assessment of sustainable drainage systems (SUDS) for highways schemes.
• Work within a multi-disciplinary design team to deliver drainage solutions in compliance with national and local standards.
• Prepare and review technical drawings, drainage models, and design reports.
• Engage with stakeholders and review planning, environmental, and regulatory constraints.
• Contribute to flood risk assessments and drainage impact studies.

Skills & Experience:

• Strong background in drainage design, particularly for highways or infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency with relevant industry software, such as:
  • MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • GIS tools (desirable)
• Familiarity with current design standards and guidance (e.g., DMRB, CIRIA SuDS Manual).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a wider team.
• Experience delivering projects under local authority frameworks or National Highways.
• Chartered or working towards chartership (CIWEM, ICE) - preferred but not essential.
