Job Description

Contract type: Full Time (37.5 hours) - Permanent

Location: Stockton-on-Tees, Durham International Study Centre

Salary: £24,570 per annum

The Wellbeing & Engagement Officer's role is to support students face-to-face and online.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering services and processes that provide an excellent student experience. This requires excellent people skills and a good level of administrative ability. The post holder will provide first-level support, refer students to specialist services as needed, and establish activities to help students develop skills and confidence outside the classroom.

About the Role
  1. Ensure effective case management of all welfare concerns and LDHD students, maintaining accurate records in line with GDPR requirements.
  2. Safeguard students in accordance with Study Group policy, acting as the first point of contact for concerns about student safety or wellbeing.
  3. Provide 1:1 welfare and pastoral support, referring students for additional support when necessary.
  4. Create and monitor Support Plans for students.
  5. Coordinate support for students under 18, ensuring their safety and daily accountability.
  6. Work with colleagues to support students with additional needs related to health or SEND.
  7. Coordinate the student Health Registration process, collaborating with local GPs and assisting students in accessing healthcare.
  8. Plan and implement annual welfare events and promotional activities, including sessions with external agencies.
  9. Assist students with Mitigating Circumstances Forms and attend related meetings.
  10. Support membership of the Student Staff Liaison Committee and participate in meetings.
  11. Handle out-of-office welfare issues when required, in exchange for time in lieu.
  12. Manage reception and student-facing environments, addressing queries face-to-face, online, via email, or phone, and improving service quality.
  13. Collaborate in organizing registration, arrivals, induction, enrichment activities, and events, providing support to team members.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Safeguarding training or equivalent experience
  • Experience supporting students in an educational setting
  • Experience organizing trips and visits, including risk assessments
  • Experience creating engaging content and delivering workshops
  • Experience working with external partners to facilitate activities and engagement
