To lead the next phase of Just Fair's Right to Health campaign by making the political case for the better legal recognition and real-world protection for the right to health; developing engaging and compelling communications; driving parliamentary engagement; building strategic partnerships; and mobilising civil society to advance the right to health in the UK.
This role is central to embedding the right to health into national discourse and policy, contributing to the delivery of Just Fair's organisational strategy and to building a fairer, more just UK for everyone.
Responsibilities- Lead the strategic direction of the Right to Health campaign in line with Just Fair's new organisational strategy, with a focus on making the political case for the right to health and influencing UK parliamentary processes and legislative agendas.
- Build and deepen relationships with UK parliamentarians, policy influencers, and stakeholders, positioning Just Fair as a credible and effective voice on the right to health.
- Strengthen and coordinate a growing civil society coalition on the right to health, enabling collaborative advocacy, joint campaigning, and shared learning.
- Design, deliver and support strategic interventions - such as policy briefings, parliamentary events, select committee inquiries, consultations, and roundtables - to elevate the right to health in political and public debate.
- Develop new cross-sector partnerships with a focus on a broad range of local, national and international stakeholders to advance systemic change in line with appropriate strategic opportunities.
- Mobilise and support civil society actors through training, capacity-building, and participatory resource development that centre lived and learnt experience and promote rights-based approaches.
- Produce high-quality outputs, including evidence-based briefings, accessible resources, creative communications, and thought leadership content that highlight the connections between health, human rights, and social and environmental justice.
- Monitor developments in health, human rights, and social and environmental justice in the UK and internationally, identifying and making the most of opportunities for proactive and reactive advocacy at UK level.
- Contribute to organisational planning, culture, and learning, working closely with colleagues to embed organisational values and collaboration across all areas of work.
- Support reporting and evaluation, including funder reports and board updates, and contribute to securing future support for the campaign.
- Undertake other duties as required in line with the role.
- Proven experience leading policy, advocacy, or parliamentary engagement work - preferably within health, human rights, social or environmental justice sectors in the UK.
- Demonstrated success in building and sustaining strategic relationships across UK Government, civil society, or communities.
- Experience designing and delivering impactful campaigns or coalition-based initiatives.
- Strong background in influencing public or political debate through evidence, narrative building, and collective action.
- Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects with clear planning, delivery, and evaluation processes.
- Strong understanding of the structural drivers of health inequality in the UK, and the relevance of human rights frameworks in addressing them.
- Deep understanding of UK political and parliamentary systems and how to effectively influence them.
- Good understanding of and commitment to the purpose, values and principles of Just Fair.
- Awareness of the UK civil society landscape and the role of public mobilisation in creating social change.
- Outstanding communication skills - able to build narratives and engage diverse audiences, from policymakers to community organisers, in accessible and persuasive ways.
- Strong political and strategic judgement, with a solutions-focused approach to complex challenges.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative and facilitative working style.
- Ability to work independently and flexibly within a small, remote team.
- Confident in translating research, data and policy into action that is meaningful, inclusive, and grounded in the lived realities of people in the UK.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Willingness to work on a weekly basis in London and travel occasionally within the UK.
- Willingness to undergo a relevant criminal record check.
- A good working understanding of the UK health and social care systems, and the main challenges they currently face.
- Direct experience of, or experience working with or alongside people with lived experience of health inequality or rights violations.
- Knowledge of devolved health systems and opportunities for rights-based policy engagement at regional levels.
