STORES CO-ORDINATOR
Posted 8 hours 15 minutes ago by Cyngor Caerdydd/Cardiff Council
Our Waste Management and Street Scene service plays a vital role in keeping our communities clean, safe, and running efficiently. Based at Lamby Way Depot, the service supports frontline operations by ensuring teams have the equipment, materials, and resources they need to deliver essential services across the city.
The stores function is at the heart of this operation-providing effective stock control, managing equipment distribution, and maintaining high standards of health, safety, and customer service. We are committed to delivering a reliable, responsive service that supports our frontline workforce every day.
About the jobAs a Stores Coordinator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of stores operations, ensuring a smooth and efficient service that meets operational demands.
This is a hands on role where you will oversee stock control processes, coordinate the distribution of equipment and materials, and support frontline teams to ensure they are prepared for their daily duties. You will carry out regular stock checks and audits, monitor stock movements, and help identify and resolve any supply issues.
You will also play a key role in maintaining compliance with health and safety standards, carrying out inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment. Supporting and guiding operatives, you will help maintain high levels of customer service and respond to operational queries or issues as they arise.
Working in a fast paced environment, you will use systems and technology to track stock, monitor spend, and ensure accurate record keeping and reporting at all times.
What We Are Looking For From YouWe are looking for a motivated and organised individual with experience in stores management, stock control, or logistics operations. You will have a strong understanding of health and safety practices and be confident working in a customer focussed, operational environment.
You will bring excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities, working under pressure to meet deadlines. Strong IT skills are essential, including experience with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
A confident communicator, you will be comfortable giving instructions, supporting colleagues, and handling queries or challenges in a professional manner. You will also be proactive, flexible, and willing to take responsibility to ensure the service runs smoothly.
Experience in procurement processes, stock systems, or continuous improvement would be an advantage, but most importantly you will have a positive, can do attitude and a commitment to delivering high quality service.
