Storage Automation Specialist

Overview

Role Title: Storage Automation Specialist; Start Date: 9th Feb 2026; End Date: 30th September 2026; Rate: £377; Location: Sheffield; N# of Days onsite P/W: 3. JD: Primary Skill - Storage - Storage technology, SME level preferred, automation SME, testing and observability. Lead automation strategy and delivery across SAN/NAS/DPS platforms to enable compliant, repeatable, and observable storage provisioning for OpenShift/Kubernetes workloads. Own patterns, tooling, and CI/CD integration for storage services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design policydriven, API-first storage automation using Ansible, Python, and Terraform.
• Build reusable modules for provisioning LUNs, file shares, snapshots, replication, and migration.
• Integrate with CI/CD (Jenkins/Tekton/GitHub Actions) and ITSM/CMDB for change and audit.
• Embed security (RBAC, secrets, encryption) and observability (metrics, logs, traces).
• Standardise runbooks and enable squads via documentation and enablement sessions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong Ansible/Python/Terraform experience in storage automation.
• Knowledge of SAN/NAS/DPS platforms (Dell EMC, Pure, NetApp, Data Domain, Cisco/Brocade).
• Understanding of CSI, OpenShift/Kubernetes, and GitOps practices.
• Experience in regulated environments with audit and compliance requirements.
