Standing Together Caseworker

About the role

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our Student Support Services team at the University of Leicester. This role focuses on supporting students affected by unacceptable behaviours such as bullying, harassment, sexual violence, and domestic abuse. You will play a crucial role in raising awareness, providing training, and managing cases to ensure that risk and needs for the student are managed appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Provide case work and case management for students who require support, assess and manage risk linked to each case, and provide expert advice and guidance to ensure timely and appropriate actions.
• Deliver training sessions and awareness programmes aimed at preventing unacceptable behaviours and supporting the university's commitment to a safe and inclusive environment.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including the Student Union, police, and specialist support services, to ensure a holistic approach to student welfare.

About you

You should hold a relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification, with demonstrable experience in case management, networking, and collaborative working with diverse stakeholders. Experience in event or project management, as well as supporting individuals in a similar setting, is essential. You must have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with students and staff while maintaining professional boundaries.

We are looking for someone with strong written communication skills, particularly in report writing, and the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively. Analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a flexible and creative approach to supporting students, are crucial for this role. You should also be proficient in using IT systems, including the Microsoft Office suite, and have a clear understanding of confidentiality and data protection.

Experience working in Higher Education, knowledge of current legislation and risk management related to sexual violence, domestic abuse, or duty of care, and an understanding of the barriers faced by underrepresented groups would be advantageous.
