Overview of role:

We are hiring a Staff Nurse to join our Oncology team on a full-time permanent contract.

Key Responsibilities: Professional Responsibilities:

• Practice Nursing according to the Code of Professional Conduct
• Adhere to HSE guidelines, policies, protocols and legislation
• Workwithin their scope of practice and take measures to develop and maintain thecompetence necessary for professional practice
• Maintain a high standard of professional behaviour and be accountable for theirpractice
• Beaware of ethical policies and procedures which pertain to their area ofpractice
• Respect and maintain the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of the patient
• Follow appropriate lines of authority within the Nurse Management structureClinical Practice
• Deliver the nursing care of an assigned group of patients within a bestpractice / evidence based
• Manage a designated caseload
• Promote the health, welfare and social wellbeing of patients within ourservices
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual person centred care programmeswithin an agreed framework and in accordance with best practice
• Develop and promote good interpersonal relationships with patients, theirfamily / social network supports and the interdisciplinary care team in thepromotion of person centred care
• Collaborate and work closely with the patient, their family, themulti-disciplinary / inter-disciplinary team, external agencies and services tofacilitate discharge planning, continuity of care and specific carerequirements
• Provide appropriate and timely education and information to the patient, theirfamily and be an advocate for the individual patient and for their family
• Report and consult with senior nursing management on clinical issues asappropriate
• Participate in innovation and change in the approach to patient care deliveryparticularly in relation to new research findings, evidence based practice andadvances in treatment
• Participate in clinical audit and review
• Participate in community needs assessment and ongoing community delivery ofcare as appropriate
• Promote a positive health concept with patients and colleagues and contributeto health promotion and disease prevention initiatives of the Health ServiceExecutive

Clinical Governance:

• Contribute to on-going monitoring, audit and evaluation of the service asappropriate
• Accurately record and report all complaints to appropriate personnel accordingto local service policy
• Participate in the development of policies / procedures and guidelines tosupport compliance with current legal requirements, where existing, for thesafe storage and administration of medicines and other clinical products
• Observe, report and take appropriate action on any matter which may bedetrimental to patient careBe aware of, and comply with, the principles of clinical governance includingquality, risk and health and safety and be individually responsible forclinical governance, risk management / health and safety issues in their areaof work
• Participate in the development, promotion and implementation of infectionprevention and control guidelines
• Complete all mandatory training and take responsibility for own competency, learning and development needs
• Develop teaching skills and participate in the planning and implementation oforientation, training and teaching programmes for nursing students and otherhealth-care staff as appropriate
• Maintain records and submit activity data / furnish appropriate reports to the ClinicalNurse Manager as required
• Ensure that the care setting is maintained in good order using appropriatemodels, that supplies are adequate and that all equipment is in good workingorder and ready for immediate use
• Assist with ordering of supplies as required and ensure the appropriate andefficient use of supplies is made and exercise economy in the use ofconsumables
• Undertake other duties as required by the Clinical Nurse Manager

General:

• Through the course of the working day or week there maybe a requirement to work in other areas of the hospital in line with patient requirements as requested by your line manager/deputy or nurse management.
• Staff must produce satisfactory documentary evidence of all training and experience claimed by them, if required to do so by the organisation.

Qualifications & Experience: Skills Essential to the Post:

• Competentin IV chemotherapy administration
• Competentin Accessing of CVAD devices
• Competentin IV Cannulation & Phlebotomy

Qualifications:

• Be registered general nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)

Experience:

• 1-2yrs Oncology experience
• Demonstrate depth and breadth of nursing experience in oncologynursing, as relevant to the role.
• Oncology Post Grad or similar desirable

Salaryscale: € 37,788.19 - € 56,032.05 per annumbased on a 37.5 hour
