Staff Nurse in Health Visiting Team- Farnham

The Staff Nurse is a registered nurse working as part of the Health Visiting Team providing preventative and supportive health care to children and families in Surrey.

This includes the identification, monitoring, and provision of targeted support to vulnerable children and those whose welfare and safety may be at risk.

Our Staff Nurses work as members of the Health Visiting Team, maintaining a public health focus under the supervision of a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) to deliver the Healthy Programme in various settings including the home and community venues, as delegated by the Health Visitor. All work is completed within the designated competency framework.

Base

Our Healthy Family Teams support our Surrey-wide service. You will be based at one of our Office Hubs across Surrey with opportunities for hybrid working.

Main duties of the job

As a Staff Nurse, you will play a vital role in improving health and wellbeing outcomes for children, young people, and their families. Working within a Healthy Family Team, you'll provide compassionate, outcome-based support in homes, schools, and family hubs across Surrey.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working within the boundaries of the Staff Nurse Competency framework.
  • Collaborating with the Health Visiting Team to achieve Key Performance Indicators.
  • Partnering with children and families to identify health needs early and providing appropriate support for positive outcomes.
  • Working in partnership with Early Years Services in the community, such as Children's Centres and Early Years settings.
  • Supporting infant feeding and parent-infant relationships by adhering to the Baby Friendly Initiative Standards.
  • Completing Family Health Needs assessments for mandated reviews and updating the SCPHN (Health Visitor) on concerns.
  • Providing support to families using the Solihull Foundation Approach and Five to Thrive trauma-informed practices in behavioral management, parenting skills, and care delivery to vulnerable families as identified by the SCPHN.
  • Offering ongoing support and intervention to allocated families, updating the SCPHN health visitor on significant changes.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • NMC registration in nursing
  • Experience working with children and families
  • Full driving license and car ownership
  • Knowledge of Childrens Service and Public Health policies
  • Understanding of child development
  • Ability to promote and safeguard child and family welfare and build professional boundaries

Desirable:

  • Registered Childrens Nurse
  • Experience in multidisciplinary environments
  • Knowledge of behavior change theory
  • Practice supervisor/assessor qualification
  • Interest in SCPHN qualification
