Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse District Nursing within our North and South Localies in South Ayrshire. This post is offered on a fixed-term basis for 1 year.

Hours:

36 hours per week, with weekend rota work

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

UK Driving Licence:

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.

What you will do:
  • To ensure the provision of effective, efficient and appropriate high quality patient care.
  • To assist the Team Leader in leading the nursing team, ensuring the development of staff.
  • To share responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care needs and quality assurance.
  • To promote evidence based practice and act as an accountable role model.
  • To act in accordance with the NMC Code.
  • To support the developments of preventative and home first approaches as defined by Scottish Government Discharge Without Delay programme.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required for this post:
  • Professional qualification nursing RGN/RN Adult.
  • General nursing care, either acute or community based.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development. Evidence of current local/national policies tailored to community nursing.
  • Excellent communication & clinical skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, Effective communicator. Understanding of Community issues and drive to service improvements.
