Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.

Job overview Hedley Atkins is a 24 bedded ward that predominantly cares for patients with oncology malignancies receiving active treatment, palliative and end
of life care. We also support patients with haematology malignancies and sickle cell disease.
The nursing team prides itself on a cohesive multidisciplinary approach to patient care, striving to provide high clinical standards in a supportive
environment. Support on the ward is underpinned by a full-time oncology PDN and the wider management team including the ward manager, deputy managers,matrons and heads of nursing. You will be working with the wider multidisciplinary team in supporting patients receiving chemotherapy, radiotherapy and supportive care.
We are looking for enthusiastic, confident, dynamic and motivated experienced nurses with excellent communication skills and experience of oncology and haematology patientswhocontribute in maintaining highest standards of care whilst demonstrating effective leadership and providing support. We are looking for nurses wishing to develop their leadership skills and come join us on this exciting journey in caring for our Oncology patients.

independently manage a group of patients whilst working as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering individualised and personalised direct patient care.
You are wholly accountable for your practice in line with the NMC code of professional conduct and you should take every reasonable opportunity
to sustain and improve your knowledge and professional competence.
You should be an effective communicator with patients and their significant people regarding their disease treatment and management. Equality, diversity and inclusion underpins our interactions with our patients and our colleagues and are core values for our ward team and wider MDT.
You should be competent in undertaking physical observations including: cardiovascular observations, blood sugar monitoring, urinalysis, fluid
balance monitoring, catheter care and GCS.
You will be supported and development competencies in managing chest and ascitic drains (temporary and permanent), PICC/PORT care, brachytherapy, PCA management, syringe driver management, NG and ryles tube insertion and management, and management of oncology emergencies.
You will be responsible for the correct administration of prescribed medication via oral, enteral and IV routes including transfusion of blood andblood products.
