Staff Engineer

Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires Staff Engineer/Sr.Engineer to be based at their client's office in Ireland

This is a fully remote position with occasional office visits required when necessary

This is a 12 month temporary contract to start ASAP

Day rate: Competitive Market rate

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers, product managers, and designers.
• Build scalable, performant, and resilient Back End systems that support critical business needs.
• Participate in system design and architecture reviews to influence technical direction.
• Drive software quality through code reviews, testing, and continuous integration.
• Contribute to a positive and inclusive engineering culture through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and leadership at your level.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues in production environments.
• Author and review technical design documents, RFCs, and root cause analyses.
• Continuously learn and grow in your engineering craft and domain knowledge.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure swift resolution of any production outages involving your systems.

Key Requirements

Essential Skills:

• 7+ years of professional experience building applications in Scala using the Typelevel stack (Cats, Cats Effect, http4s, fs2, Circe etc.) or ZIO
• Deep knowledge in functional programming with an emphasis on referential transparency, strong typing and composable designs
• Professional experience building applications in Haskell, Pure Script or another language or ecosystem with a modern functional effect system and an interest in transitioning to Scala and the Type level libraries.
• Deep knowledge of REST API design, scalability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.
• Significant experience with production infrastructure, observability, and incident management.
• Deep familiarity with AWS cloud services across compute, storage, and serverless.
• Experience with microservice architecture running on Kubernetes

Desirable Skills:

• 7+ years of professional experience in below
• Primary - Scala, Java, AWS;
• Secondary - Golang, Tibco, Python
