Faircraft develops a sustainable alternative to leather based on cell culture.


We are looking for a skilled Sr./Lead Scientist with experience in Skin Tissue Engineering to join our Applied Research team. Your knowledge in producing and characterizing Skin Tissue in vitro models will be needed to fulfill your missions at Faircraft. You will be part of a highly skilled and interdisciplinary team of world-class scientists working in the development of our cultivated leather.


Main Tasks

  • You will lead or significantly contribute to applied research initiatives focused on developing robust, scalable in vitro cultivated leather alternatives.
  • Expertise is required in cellular biology and skin tissue engineering, with more than 5 years of experience in academic and/or industrial research.


We are looking for a candidate with strong knowledge of:

  • Skin cell types, their physiology, and molecular mechanisms.
  • Biomaterials, cell-material interactions, and/or scaffold design for skin tissue engineering.
  • Techniques to design, manufacture, and characterize 3D skin models.


Responsibilities

  • Lead or conduct high-impact applied research projects in skin tissue engineering.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and optimize in vitro engineered skin models.
  • Transfer technologies and implement quality control processes for scalable tissue manufacturing.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to protocol and SOP development.
  • Drive scientific and technological excellence across the Applied Research team and the company.


Profile

  • PhD in tissue engineering, cellular biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of postdoctoral and/or industrial experience in Skin Tissue Engineering.
  • Demonstrated expertise in biomaterials, scaffold design, and cell-material interactions.
  • Ability to thrive in collaborative, interdisciplinary environments.
  • Scientific rigor, creativity, and critical thinking are essential for success in this role.
