Sr Embedded Software Engineer

Location: Cork, Ireland
Reports to: Software Architect

Job Overview

The Cadence Compute Systems Group (CSG) develops and licenses IP for system designs. This includes CPUs and high-performance DSPs, DDR and IO controllers, hardware accelerators, and subsystems. CSG's IP is used by the top semiconductor vendors, enabling billions of chips to be shipped annually. The CSG Central Applications Engineering team is seeking an experienced, motivated senior software engineer to join a new software team for CSG systems. You will work on reference systems for Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Radar, Automotive, and other high performance applications. This role involves working with compute and interface IP, device drivers, RTOS, communication libraries, reference designs, boards, and emulation systems.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and test embedded software and reference applications for physical AI applications.
  • Collaborate with software and RTL verification engineers and systems architects.
  • Port and integrate software components and create development SDK for partners and customers.
  • Develop device drivers for Linux and RTOS.
  • Coordinate with partners to integrate 3rd party components and applications.
  • Automate tasks and improve existing build and test infrastructure.
Job Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent with 4 years' experience.
  • Expert C and Python coding skills.
  • Hands on experience writing, debugging, and testing Linux and RTOS drivers.
  • Hands on experience building and modifying embedded Linux distributions.
  • Ability to negotiate requirements and translate them into design and implementation.
  • Experience porting, linking, and debugging embedded software and drivers.
  • Hands on experience writing low level software for embedded processors, e.g. ARM.
