Job Description

Are you a Sports Graduate looking to gain practical experience before a career in Teaching, PE Teaching, Sports Coaching, Educational Psychology, Youth Work, Physical Activity Development or Behaviour Support?

Protocol Education is recruiting enthusiastic Sports Graduates to support students in a secondary school in North Tyneside. This is an excellent opportunity to use your coaching, leadership and communication skills to positively impact young people both inside and outside the classroom.

The Role

As a Sports Graduate, you may work as a:

  • Teaching Assistant
  • Behaviour Support Assistant
  • Learning Mentor
  • SEMH Support Assistant
  • Inclusion Support Assistant
  • Sports Coach
  • Student Wellbeing Mentor

You'll gain invaluable experience by:

  • Supporting students on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
  • Using sports-based approaches to engage and motivate learners.
  • Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Working with students with SEMH needs, Autism (ASC), ADHD and additional learning needs.
  • Delivering structured intervention and mentoring sessions.
  • Encouraging teamwork, confidence and resilience.
  • Assisting teachers with classroom learning and activities.
  • Building positive relationships that help students thrive academically and socially.

We're Looking For
  • A degree in Sports Science, Sports Coaching, Physical Education or a related subject.
  • A passion for supporting young people.
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills.
  • Confidence leading and engaging groups.
  • A proactive, resilient and positive attitude.
  • The ability to act as a positive role model.
  • Previous coaching, mentoring, tutoring or youth work experience is desirable but not essential.
