Sports Coach & School Gym Lead (Temp-to-Perm)

The Opportunity

Are you a motivated Sports Coach with a passion for fitness and strength & conditioning? We are looking for a dynamic individual to take full ownership of our brand-new school gym facility in Burnley.

This isn't just a coaching role; it is a foundational leadership position. You will be responsible for setting up the gym's operational flow, designing inclusive fitness programs, and inspiring students of all abilities to engage in physical health. Starting in May 2026, this role begins as a temporary contract with a direct pathway to a permanent staff position for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Gym Launch & Leadership: Lead the initial setup of the gym environment, including equipment safety checks, layout, and scheduling.

• Program Design: Create and deliver high-energy fitness sessions, including strength training, HIIT, and restorative health for students aged 11-16.

• Inclusive Coaching: Run lunchtime and after-school clubs that cater to both elite student-athletes and those new to a gym environment.

• Mentorship: Use the gym as a tool for pastoral growth, helping students build confidence, discipline, and resilience.

• Health & Safety: Maintain the facility to the highest standards, ensuring all students are trained on equipment use.

What We're Looking ForQualifications: Level 2 or 3 Personal Training / Gym Instructing qualification is essential. A Sports Coaching degree or equivalent experience is highly desirable.

• Vision: Someone who can "see the big picture" and build a gym culture from the ground up.

• Burnley Based (or commutable): Knowledge of the local community and a desire to improve the health outcomes of Burnley's youth.

• DBS: Must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
