Sports Coach

Smile Education are recruiting Sports Coaches / Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Oldham. This is a great opportunity for sports coaches, graduates or aspiring teachers who want to work in schools without planning or marking.

The Role

As a Sports Coach / Cover Supervisor, you will supervise lessons using pre-set work, support PE lessons and school sports activities, manage behaviour and keep students engaged across KS3 and KS4. You will not be expected to plan lessons or mark work. The focus is on keeping pupils on task, maintaining a positive classroom environment and supporting the school day.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise lessons using pre-set work.
• Support PE lessons, sports activities and wider school events.
• Manage behaviour and keep students focused.
• Work with pupils across KS3 and KS4.
• Follow school routines, lesson instructions and behaviour policies.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff where required.
• Follow safeguarding procedures at all times.

Requirements

• Experience in sports coaching, PE, youth work or education is desirable.
• You must be confident managing groups of students aged 11-16.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills are essential.
• You should be reliable, adaptable, proactive and professional.
• School experience is helpful but not essential for the right candidate.
• Graduates and aspiring teachers are welcome to apply.
• You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
• You must have the right to work in the UK.
